The Severnoye Design Bureau is a leading design bureau in Russia designing surface combatants of various types.
The Bureau has strong ties with shipyards and suppliers of equipment both in Russia and abroad. Ships built by SDB’s designs have excellent records being in service of the navies of such countries as Bulgaria, Germany, Vietnam, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, China, Poland, Finland.
The Severnoye DB is a leading company of the industry in developing roll stabilizers, selecting and applying fire and explosion safety systems for surface ships.
The Bureau uses a state-of-the-art CAD for ships and vessels. It consists of individual local systems interconnected in one single complex. The core of this complex is FORAN system which covers the main stages of design such as creation of a 3-D model of ship’s hull surface, piping, wiring, ventilation and air conditioning system arrangement and issuance of work and design documentation by data of electronic mock-up. The Severnoye DB also intensely uses CALS technologies. By Customer’s request, design model of ship or vessel as well as interactive operation documentation can be developed. A lot of experienced designers specialized in all lines of activity work in the Severnoye DB. Among them there are two Doctors and eight Candidates of Science (Engineering).
Due to technological capabilities, state-of-the-art production base and reliable interrelations with the leading research and development centers and shipyards, including Almaz Shipbuilding Company, Baltic Shipyard, Vostochnaya Verf (Eastern Shipyard), Zelenodolsk Plant Named after Gorky, Pella, Severnaya Verf Shipyard, Sevmash and Yantar, the Severnoye DB promptly responds to time demands and Customer’s needs, designs high-tech and competitive naval equipment.
While solving the tasks of the State Defense Order, the Severnoye DB works to provide further development of indigenous shipbuilding and maintaining the combat power of the Russian Navy.
